Q10. Negative Impacts from COVID-19:
COVID-19 presented our agency with a unique set of problems. Many individuals we serve were either laid off from their jobs due to shutdowns or were unabale to leave their residential group homes to go to work. We are funded to provide employment supports and had to quickly adapt to providing services over the telephone. The services were more supportive for the individual’s overall life than just employment related. Staff struggled with delivering services remotely and our technology infrastructure was not well equipped to adapt quickly. In addition to the change is service, our funding was immediately impacted. Service reduction combined with state aid being held back we are facing a significant financial loss for 2020 that will likely continue into 2021.
Q11. Top Three Concerns:
The reduction in state/federal funding that supports the bulk of our service delivery
The emotional and physical health of our employees and clients we serve
The overall economic impact and high unemployment which results in fewer job placements/opportunities for our clients
How Participation in Program Will Address Concerns:
As a small organization we will benefit from guidance on how to be more agile and adapt to the sudden loss of funding. Revenues have been fairly steady for many years and this is the most significant fiscal crisis our agency leadership has faced. We are hoping to learn from other agencies about ways to naviagte the uncertain financial future and create more efficiencies in our operations.
